Can you mix yellow antifreeze?

You can mix two different colors of the same kind of coolant without any problem whatsoever. But if you mix a significant amount of one type in with the other type, you're weakening your corrosion inhibitors (it happened to my brother, and look at the condition he's in now).

What happens if you use the wrong color antifreeze?

It's important to note that the type of coolant you should use can't accurately be identified by color. Using the wrong coolant can lead to corrosion and other damages to the radiator, water pump, radiator hoses, cylinder gasket, and more.

Can I use yellow antifreeze instead of orange?

In pictorial language it says "Do not use orange coolant; yellow coolant is okay."

What is the difference between antifreeze colors?

Can different color antifreeze be mixed?

It's never a good idea to mix two different colors or types of antifreeze. Mixing two formulas won't cause any dangerous reactions or explosions, but it could turn your coolant into a sludgy chemical mixture that won't be able to flow properly through your cooling system.

What Colour coolant should I use?

The most common method to find out is to simply check the coolant and find out what colour it is when the vehicle is cold. Most coolant brands will keep their coolants the same colour to prevent any confusion. If you're still not sure, check the owners/service manual for coolant specifications.

How long can I drive with the wrong coolant?

You can't run that for long at all. As in, just don't. On the other hand, other coolant formulations are specified for corrosion protection and you can probably run the wrong stuff for a reasonable amount of time (weeks, maybe more) without problem.
