Long-term fixes to non-wetting are inverting, mixing and claying by ploughing, spading, delving and clay spreading. Why are my plants always dry?
Lack of moisture – Papery leaves on plants are often caused by leaf scorch. This often happens during hot, dry weather when moisture evaporates before the plant can absorb it through the roots.

Is it better to overwater or underwater plants?
Overwatering causes plants to drown from lack of oxygen, or suffer from root rot and fungus because they can't dry out properly.
