Should rear coil springs be replaced in pairs?
It's recommended to replace coil springs in pairs. Over time coil springs weaken, so if you replace only one spring, the left and right springs will respond differently to the road and the left and ride sides may have a different ride height.

How do you check rear shocks?
Go to one corner of the car and push down. When you let go, the car should bounce up, then settle back to at-rest height. If the car bounces more than twice, you most likely need new shocks.

Can you drive with broken rear coil spring?
Can you drive with a broken coil spring? No, you should not drive with a broken coil spring. You should get it fixed as soon as possible.
What causes rear coil springs to break?
Even perfectly-manufactured rear springs weaken over time from doing their job–flexing while bearing loads. Flaws in manufacturing and the fatiguing process greatly accelerate the normal process, causing rear coil springs to break.

- Excessive sagging, leaning or swaying (especially when loaded)
How many years do coil springs last?
The industry standard for these springs is a life cycle of about 10,000-15,000 uses or a spring life of about 5 years on average. You can choose to increase the spring wire by several sizes and increase spring life to over 100,000 cycles with extra long life springs.
Do springs get stiffer over time?
Yup. The springs will become harder over time due to the constant flexing.
What causes rear end to bounce?
Bounce or sway while driving a car can be caused by faulty struts, shocks, or worn out tires.
What does a bad rear shock sound like?
Unusual noises – When shocks and struts are worn out you may hear a clunking or knocking sound. This sound is caused by metal-to-metal contact when the shock or strut bottoms out when hitting a bump. In addition, these noises could be a result in worn shock or strut mounting components.
How long should rear shocks last?
On average, if your car has been “babied,” you can expect your shocks/struts to last about 10 years. If you have really used your car like a workhorse, 5 years is probably all you can expect. How do I know if my rear shock absorbers need replacing?
To carry out this test, park up your vehicle and push your body weight down at the front end of the vehicle a couple of times. When you release this pressure and notice your car continues to bounce up and down more than 3 times, there is a high possibility your shock absorbers need to be replaced.

Should I be able to compress a shock by hand?
You cannot judge the strength or condition of a shock/strut by hand movement alone. The force and speed generated by a vehicle in operation exceeds what you can accomplish by hand. The fluid valves are calibrated to operate differently depending on the degree of movement inertia which cannot be duplicated by hand.
Should springs be settled before alignment?
Springs do "settle". H-sports settle a bit and it may take months for them to finish settling, if not a year. Don't bother waiting, just get the alignment done now. The amount of settling will not change alignment much at all.
How long should springs settle before alignment?
Install springs first. I'd suggest a week to 10 days of regular driving for them to settle. Then install the alignment parts and do the alignment.
Does rear suspension affect alignment?
The short answer is—it depends on the type of suspension your car has. If the tires are wearing evenly and there is no steering pull or wander, an alignment isn't typically necessary. On some vehicles, the installation of new shocks and struts may affect your car's wheel alignment.
