Is our future already determined?

In quantum mechanics the outcome of measurements is in general not determined when given the exact physical state of the system in general. But apart from the uncertainty arising from this, the future is as determined as is the present.

Does the future and past exist?

The past and future do not exist and are only concepts used to describe the real, isolated, and changing present. This conventional model presents a number of difficult philosophical problems, and seems difficult to reconcile with currently accepted scientific theories such as the theory of relativity.

What did Einstein say about the future?

Albert Einstein once wrote: People like us who believe in physics know that the distinction between past, present and future is only a stubbornly persistent illusion. Time, in other words, he said, is an illusion. Many physicists since have shared this view, that true reality is timeless.

Can past present and future exist simultaneously?

If everything is happening simultaneously — your past, present, future laid out in space — then it would be impossible to create “grandfather paradoxes.” You wouldn't be making any catastrophic changes. Instead, you will only travel through time and experience it as it is and as it always would be.

Is time just an illusion?

According to theoretical physicist Carlo Rovelli, time is an illusion: our naive perception of its flow doesn't correspond to physical reality. Indeed, as Rovelli argues in The Order of Time, much more is illusory, including Isaac Newton's picture of a universally ticking clock.

Does past still exist?

In short, space-time would contain the entire history of reality, with each past, present or future event occupying a clearly determined place in it, from the very beginning and for ever. The past would therefore still exist, just as the future already exists, but somewhere other than where we are now present.

Can time be stopped?

The simple answer is, "Yes, it is possible to stop time. All you need to do is travel at light speed." The practice is, admittedly, a bit more difficult. Addressing this issue requires a more thorough exposition on Special Relativity, the first of Einstein's two Relativity Theories.

Does time actually exist?

Does time exist? The answer to this question may seem obvious: of course it does! Just look at a calendar or a clock. But developments in physics suggest the non-existence of time is an open possibility, and one that we should take seriously.

Is time a real thing?

Time is a prime conflict between relativity and quantum mechanics, measured and malleable in relativity while assumed as background (and not an observable) in quantum mechanics. To many physicists, while we experience time as psychologically real, time is not fundamentally real.

Can we travel to future?

We can't use a time machine to travel hundreds of years into the past or future. That kind of time travel only happens in books and movies. But the math of time travel does affect the things we use every day. For example, we use GPS satellites to help us figure out how to get to new places.

Is reality an illusion?

The further quantum physicists peer into the nature of reality, the more evidence they are finding that everything is energy at the most fundamental levels. Reality is merely an illusion, although a very persistent one. What else can we do in the face of what scientists have discovered about reality? It's unbelievable!

Can we go back in time?

Time travel to the past is theoretically possible in certain general relativity spacetime geometries that permit traveling faster than the speed of light, such as cosmic strings, traversable wormholes, and Alcubierre drives.

Is everything pre written?

With this said, at the quantum level the universe is (according to our current quantum theory) nondeterministic; thus there is a substantial measure of unpredictability in the events of the future. Consequently, 'everything' is not 'pre-written' (but not because of any notion of free will in conscious beings).

Does time happen all at once?

We can measure that it's changing around us all over the place – satellites, particle accelerators, anything going fast. And it may be that space and time are the same thing all wrapped up together and it all exists all at once.

Can you change the future?

If you think about experiences happening in a quantum field of space-time, then yes, if you have a premonition or a precognition that something is imminent; you may change a possible “future.”

Why is life an illusion?

An individual life may seem more or less meaningful depending on how it is lived, but even the most meaningful lives will end and be forgotten. Jean-Paul Sartre said that the moment we realize we are not immortal, we see the meaning of life as an illusion.

Who made time?

The measurement of time began with the invention of sundials in ancient Egypt some time prior to 1500 B.C. However, the time the Egyptians measured was not the same as the time today's clocks measure. For the Egyptians, and indeed for a further three millennia, the basic unit of time was the period of daylight.

Did Einstein believe in time?

Time seems to follow a universal, ticktock rhythm. But it doesn't. In the Special Theory of Relativity, Einstein determined that time is relative—in other words, the rate at which time passes depends on your frame of reference.

What is inside a black hole?

The singularity at the center of a black hole is the ultimate no man's land: a place where matter is compressed down to an infinitely tiny point, and all conceptions of time and space completely break down. And it doesn't really exist.

Can a wormhole exist?

In the early days of research on black holes, before they even had that name, physicists did not yet know if these bizarre objects existed in the real world.

Can we bend space?

“We know that space can be bent. If space can be bent by, say, gravity, then spacetime can be bent," Beacham said. To clarify, space is the three-dimensional body in which all things in the universe move. Spacetime, however, is the combined concepts of space and time into a four-dimensional continuum.

Is it possible to travel to the past?

The fact that the universe is still around is ample evidence that time travel to the past is impossible.

Why did Einstein say time is an illusion?

As For Einstein...

As we saw from Einstein's quote, he believed that time is an illusion, that both the future and the past are unchangeable, and will play out exactly the way they were meant to.

Where did time begin?

According to the standard big bang model of cosmology, time began together with the universe in a singularity approximately 14 billion years ago.
